The first 25 years

    The Early Days

    Futaba Industrial Corporation was established in 1945 in an effort to create more jobs.

  • 1948

    WISDOM AND KAIZEN

    Began manufacturing fish-netting machinery and pipe-frame furniture. Overcame difficulties in pipe fabrication and welding to become a producer of aircraft parts.

  • 1950's

    NAGOYA AND MIDORI NEW PLANTS

    1956: Nagoya Plant starts work on infrastructure for the mass production of auto parts. 1959: Midori Plant increases auto-part production, the foundation of our current activities.

  • RESPECT FOR PEOPLE

    PEOPLE FIRST

    Helped families in winter with production of kotatsu tables (tables with electric foot warmers underneath).

  • 1960's

    STRONG GROWTH IN AUTO PARTS

    1966: Transferred Head offices and Okazaki plant from Okazaki City to Hashimoku-cho. 1968: Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the second section of the Nagoya Stock Exchange. 1969: Opened Anjo plant. Exceeded 10 billion yen in sales.

  • THINK AND ACT INDEPENDENTLY

    Established a research facility for the development, design and construction of Midori Plant in 1962.

1970-2000

Domestic and International Expansion

  • 1970's

    CONTINUED GROWTH

    1970: Awarded the Toyota Quality Assurance Prize. 1971: Opened Mutsumi plant. 1979: Passed 50 billion yen sales mark.

  • UNASSUMING AND STRONG

    Leaders in the successful implementation of arc-welding robots and transport robots in the press process. Introduced night shifts from 1970 onward.

  • 1980's

    TAHARA AND TAKAHASHI NEW PLANTS

    1980: Opened Tahara plant. IPO on second section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. 1981: Opened Takahashi plant. 1985: Awarded PM Excellent Plant Prize. 1986: Listed on first section of Nagoya and Tokyo Stock Exchanges. 1989: Sales exceed the 100 billion yen mark.

  • MEETING CHALLANGES

    Expanded range of high-performance lightweight parts to meet customer needs. First in the world to find practical application for pipe benders

  • 1990's

    CONTINUED GROWTH

    1991: Established Futaba Imari Corporation in Imari City, Saga Prefecture. 1992: Production begins at the Futaba Imari plant. 1993: Opened the Kota plant. 1994: Established FIC America Corporation near Chicago, Illinois. 1997: Completed construction of new corporate head offices; received ISO 9002 certification for the Kota plant. 1999: Established KFN joint venture plant in Indonesia.

  • WISDOM AND KAIZEN

    First stainless steel exhaust manifold. First intake manifold pipe; first internal valve for mufflers. Diesel particulate filters (DPF). Global expansion of Futaba Thinking Production System (FTPS) production lines.

THE NEW MILLENNIUM

2000-PRESENT

Meeting the Challenge of the new millennium

    FUTABA HISTORY

    2000: Established Futaba Hiraizumi Corporation. Established FTUK joint venture in England. 2002: Established Tianjin Shuan Mechanical Industrial in Tianjin, China. Established FIO Automotive Corporation in Ontario, Canada. Established Futaba Czech SRO. 2004: Acquired Aichi Metals Ltd.; Established Guangzhou Locomotive machinery Corporation in Guangzhou, China. 2005 Futaba Industrial Texas established in San Antonio.

  • FIA ESTABLISHED

    October 2001: Futaba Indiana of America (FIA) established in Vincennes, Indiana.

  • 2010's

    FUTABA HISTORY

    2012: FIA expands Stamping Department. Launch of Camry line at FIA. 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Futaba Industrial Corporation.

  • 2018

    CONTINUED GROWTH

    2018: 50,000 square foot FIA plant expansion completed in preparation for expanded Toyota Highlander production line. Expansion includes second brake room, restrooms and landscaping.

  • 2020's

    A NEW DIRECTION

    As Futaba Industrial and its subsidiaries prepare to celebrate 75 years of success, FIA continues to develop new initiatives to improve Safety, Quality and Productivity.
